Christine Johnston
Christine Johnson is a Board Member of the Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust. Known for going the extra mile, Christine is a results-driven business advisor, bringing a personal approach and specialised expertise to her work as a Partner in both Business Services and Insolvency at Nexia New Zealand.
Christine is also a board member of STOP and Finance, Risk and Property Sub Committee of the City Mission.
For her, success is working with people and companies to reach their goals.

Alexandra Dalzell
Alex Dalzell is a Board member of the Laura Ferguson Brain Injury Trust. Alex is an authorised Financial Adviser and shareholder of Craigs Investment Partners and has largely spent her career in financial services in an advisory capacity. She feels privileged to partner with her clients in managing their wealth. She believes it all starts with a strong relationship, good communication, and demystifying the complexities of the financial markets. Alex has a strong rural background which has very much scripted her ability to engage with a diverse group of people together with her strong sense of community and desire to help where she can. This combination of financial skills and a social conscience brings value to the board table.

Bevan Wilson
Bevan is a Pharmacist owner with over 45 years experience managing two community pharmacies in suburban Christchurch.
He has general management and leadership skills across a wide range of pharmacy related areas, including providing medication services to residential and disability care facilities and is a former chairperson of the Canterbury branch of the Pharmaceutical Society.
Bevan is also actively involved in the overseeing the development of the Barrington Community Health Centre, it’s allied services, and the new Barrington Physiotherapy Clinic.
His inspiration and professional fulfilment stem from improving health outcomes in the community and contributing to governance at many levels including the LFBIT Board.

Clare O’Neill
Clare joined the Trust Board of Laura Ferguson Brain Injury Trust in 2023.
Clare is a member of the Institute of Directors. She has held a number of governance roles both in the commercial and not for profit sectors. Clare is also a lawyer practicing in Christchurch.
Clare has a strong interest in good governance practices, and in ensuring positive outcomes for all those involved in the Laura Ferguson Brain Injury Trust. She has a focus on all stakeholders of the organisation including staff, clients and their families, and the wider community.

Fiona McLeod
Fiona joined the Board of Laura Fergusson Brain Injury Trust in 2021.
Fiona trained as a General and Obstetric Nurse in Dunedin before embarking on postgraduate nursing studies in neurology, neurosurgery and neuro – rehabilitation in London. On her return from overseas, Fiona completed a B.Com. at Otago University, specialising in employment relations and then completed a Master of Public Management and Policy from Victoria University.
Fiona has a distinguished career in the Public Sector. She has held senior leadership positions in Health, Disability and Education and has consulted and led large public sector change projects in Justice, Corrections, Police, ACC and the private sector. Fiona is a member of the South Island branch of the NZ Shareholders Association
Fiona is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors and is competent in “Best Practice” governance. Her early governance work involved consulting to the not-for-profit sector and offering advisory support to build governance competency for Boards within the Disability Sector.
Fiona has a unique personal understanding of the nature of the not-for-profit charitable sector from an Asian perspective, as she is a donor and volunteer supporting the work of the Cambodia Cambodian Charitable Trust, an organisation improving educational outcomes for children in rural south Cambodia.

Matt Allen
Off the back of a long career consulting in property and construction and leading large commercial and government projects, including significant healthcare and hospital projects, Matt joined the board to contribute his experience as the Trust embarks on its most significant capital investment since its original establishment in Canterbury. With a strong understanding of project management, risk management and how to extract maximum value from the development process, Matt intends to help the Trust board make great decisions for both the day to day activities of the Trust and the simultaneous development of the new facility. Matt is a Director and shareholder of New Zealand’s largest and leading project management consultancy focused on the property and construction sector.

Paul Barclay
Paul has more than 25 years’ experience in the disability sector. Having held National and Regional Manager positions he has an extensive knowledge of the disability sector. Paul has Post Graduate qualifications in Management and has previously held or currently holds positions on advisory or steering groups in ACC, CCC and CDHB.
Paul is married to Jane, (a Kindergarten teacher), and their daughter Hannah attends St Margaret’s College. In addition to full-time employment, Paul runs two businesses involved in the agriculture/forestry sector.
Paul has more than 30 years’ lived experience of disability following an accident. Therefore, he is in a unique position when it comes to making decisions on services to people with disabilities.

Chelsea Houghton
Chelsea Houghton is the Fundraising and Communications Lead at Community Wellbeing North Canterbury. With a background in strategic communications and arts leadership, Chelsea has worked with a variety of organisations, leading initiatives in marketing, communications, fundraising, and brand strategy.
Chelsea is a PhD candidate at the University of Canterbury, researching the impact of digitalisation on arts organisations in Aotearoa New Zealand. She has served in governance roles across the education and arts sectors, including as a Board of Trustees member at Marian College, Chair of the Takahē Collective Trust, and a board member for Kidsfirst Kindergartens.
